Aircraft Structures Mechanic-Military Program
Position Overview
Inspect, repair, and replace complex aircraft structures and components using tools such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun, drills and other aircraft specific tools. May specialize in aircraft structural repair and or aircraft modifications.
Responsibilities
Perform Sheet Metal Structural, Fabrication, Modification, and Repair work.
- Work with close tolerance dimensions, and pneumatic tools.
- Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance, and assembly of aircraft and aircraft parts, components and wiring. Documenting work per company, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Install aircraft parts and components to aircraft at a 145 FAA repair station.
- Read, interpret, and comply with Repair Station Quality Manual, Production Certificate Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Technical Manuals, Drawings, and Specifications.
- Work in a team environment
- Achieve and maintain task qualifications for all work performed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete all required paperwork in connection with assigned normal duties, document time and work completed in appropriate systems, and create any required documentation.
- Troubleshoot and correct aircraft part and component discrepancies
- Order, receive and return parts in accordance with company policies
- Perform Lean, Standard Work and Continuous Process Improvements.
- Assist other employees in the performance of their job assignments through coaching, mentoring, and guidance.
- Perform duties of an Inspector if task qualified. Percentage of time required is different for different Inspectors based on the quantity of areas employee is task qualified to inspect and work load in department.
Qualifications
5-9 years of experience working with sheet metal repairs & modification on either fixed or rotary wing aircraft
- Experience with drilling, counter sinks, rivet shavers, reamers, riveting, jig/fixture usage, and other tools associated with sheet metal repair.
- Experience with thin Contoured Structure, as well as large structural fittings helpful.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, perform drilling/riveting and fabrication duties; as well as being able to develop sheet metal repairs using Structural Repair Manuals, Tech Manuals, and Engineering Dispositions.
- Possess set of sheet metal tools.
- Recent experience as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician
- Skilled in communicating verbally and in writing in a manner that is clear, concise, accurate, and professional.
- Able to repeatedly lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; work in confined spaces; and follow safe working practices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
Prefer an active Airframe and/or Power plant license
Need to be flexible with hours
*Must have toolbox shadowed and tools need to be engraved. Tool list of their own tools. (Tool control process)
*Need Safety shoes and glasses.
*Need to pass a Drug Test
*Need to pass a 10-year background because they need to be able to get an international airport badge for employment. No Felonies, Warrants, or pending charges.
*Need to pass a physical for employment.
*Need two resent technical references from former supervisors.
